A search warrant has been issued for actor Alec Baldwin’s phone. This comes weeks after Baldwin allegedly shot and killed Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer on the set of “Rust.”

The warrant was issued by police in New Mexico. The shooting, and Hutchins’ death, was on October 21. The warrant authorizes sheriffs in Santa Fe “to review all text messages and photos on the actor’s iPhone, as well as any stored location data,” according to the Daily Mail.

It is not known why, now, nearly two months after the shooting, sheriffs have decided to seize and search the phone, but the search warrant reveals that Baldwin claimed to have emailed with the armorer for “Rust,” Hanna Gutierrez Reed, about what kind of firearm to use during production.

Baldwin was also the producer of the film. The pistol in question was a Colt. 45.
